Automated Check Deposit: Feature Introduction

Why should I add Automated Check Depositing to our account?

Hand-written checks are still a common way for church-goers to express their generosity and it’s important to have an effective system in place so those slips of paper don’t get lost or go unnoticed. However, church administrators, finance secretaries, and accountants spend hours manually entering checks into their giving or church management system to ensure all giving is accounted for.

 

A generic check scanner integrated with your church management software helps automate manual data entry, but depositing the checks requires a trip to the bank.

Likewise, a bank-provisioned check scanner completes half the job—depositing the checks into your bank account—but has no way to connect back to your software.

 

Ministry Brands, in partnership with Jack Henry, is offering a new Automated Check Deposit feature to make this entire process seamless! Scan your checks, associate them with your donors and funds, and you’re done! Your deposited checks will be displayed in your Ministry Brands giving module and batch deposit reporting will be available when they have settled into your bank account. You may be using a similar solution mentioned above, but the power of Ministry Brands’s automated check deposit feature is the ability for all giving data to reside together in one place – making reporting, reconciliation, and organization so easy.  

 

Adding Automated Check Deposit to your account 

This feature does require additional costs, and a purchase form will need to be completed by the Primary Administrator on your account.  Pricing and Signup information will be in a tile in their Settings menu that looks like this:

Selecting a Scanning Device 

We already have a check scanning device.. can we use it with this feature?

If you already have access to a check scanner, you may be able to use it with this feature. Please review the guide below to see if your existing scanners meet the requirements of Jack Henry SmartPay. If not, you will need to purchase a new scanner.

I need to purchase a check scanner. 

You will need to purchase a compatible scanner if you don’t already have one. Ministry Brands has partnered with Teksetra to provide the highest quality compatible hardware and technical support. Follow the purchasing instructions below:

  1. Click here to create an account on Teksetra’s website.
  2. Use Customer Number 134077 to view the Ministry Brands catalog.
