Use AI Search to Find Answers Faster

AI search shows a quick answer at the top of your Help Center search results.

Instead of opening several articles, you see a short summary drawn from the most relevant help articles, with links to those articles so you can read more.

AI search is a new and developing feature. Your ratings on each quick answer help it improve.

How AI Search Works

When you search, AI reviews the help articles that match your search and writes a short answer from them. The answer appears above the standard list of matching articles.

  1. Type your question in the search bar at the top of the help center page, then run your search.
  2. Wait a few seconds. While AI works, the panel shows Looking for a quick answer, and then your answer appears in the Quick answer panel above the list of articles.

  1. To read more, select an article listed under AI suggestion based on, or scroll down to browse the full list of results.

Searching Works Best with Questions

AI search works best when you type a full question or phrase instead of a single word. Here are some example searches for different help centers:

  1. Giving: "How do I customize giving receipts?"
  2. People (ChMS): "Can I send a text to parents of a youth group?"
  3. Mobile App: "Can I customize my app home page?"

Pro Tip: Writing your search as a question helps us understand what you're trying to do, which improves both your results and our help content over time.

Help Us Improve Quick Answers

Below each quick answer, two icons let you tell us whether it helped.

  1. Select the thumbs-up icon (Helpful) if the answer helped, or the thumbs-down icon (Not helpful) if it missed the mark.
Close-up of the source article links under AI suggestion based on, with the thumbs-up and thumbs-down rating icons below them.
  1. If you selected Not helpful, the Why wasn't the quick answer helpful? window opens. Select the reason that fits best:
    • Irrelevant
    • Incomplete
    • False information
    • Broken links
    • Poor formatting
    • Wrong language
    • Other reason
  2. To tell us more, type in the Additional feedback box.
  3. Select Submit feedback. If you'd rather not give a reason, select Skip.

Tips for Better Search Results

If you don't get the answer you need right away, try adjusting your search:

  1. Add more detail: include what you're trying to do, for example "remove a fund from my giving page."
  2. Ask a full question: start with "how," "why," or "what."
  3. Use different wording: try a synonym, or describe the outcome you want. For example, if "Where do I find something?" doesn't get a result, try "Where do I view something?"

Small changes in how you phrase your search can lead to more accurate results.

Compare AI Search and AI-Assisted Chat

Our help centers offer two AI tools: AI search, and an AI-assisted chat that opens from the chat icon at the bottom right of the page. Both are helpful. Here's how they differ and what each does best.

AI Search

  1. Anonymous: you don't need to sign in or share contact details.
  2. Answers: a single, summarized answer, with links to the articles it's based on.
  3. Best for: quick, task-focused guidance, with links to the best articles on the subject.
  4. Not conversational: designed for a quick answer with links, rather than follow-up questions.

AI-Assisted Chat

  1. Personalized: before the chat starts, it asks for your Name, Email, Church or Organization, City, and State, so we can connect you with a support agent or follow up with a ticket.
  2. Answers: longer responses. The assistant may ask a question to narrow down its answer, such as which website platform you use.
  3. Best for: comprehensive guidance, with less need to open an article.
  4. Conversational: you can ask follow-up questions. After each answer, the chat asks whether it was helpful; answer Yes or No to continue. When you continue the conversation, the chat creates a support ticket for your reference and shows its number.

Note: The chat answers many common questions 24/7. Live support agents are available 8 AM to 5 PM CST, Monday through Friday, and questions sent outside those hours get a reply the next business day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Don't I See a Quick Answer?

AI search needs enough context to write an answer. If you search for a single word, such as "pages," the Quick answer panel doesn't appear. Try a full question or a longer phrase instead.

What If It Says No Quick Answer?

When AI search can't find enough in our help articles to answer your search, the panel shows No quick answer with the message "Rephrase your search or add more details to help AI come up with a quick answer." Try rephrasing your search, or describe the specific outcome you want to achieve with our tools.
