Connect a Card Reader to the Kiosk App

Set up your Ingenico Moby 5500 credit card reader to accept payments through your iPad Kiosk app quickly. This guide walks you through charging, connecting, and using your card reader.

Before You Start

Make sure you have the following:

  • Ingenico Moby 5500 card reader
  • iPad with the Kiosk app installed (iOS 13 or later recommended)
  • USB-C charging cable (included with your card reader)
  • Power adapter or USB power source
  • Stable internet connection (Wi-Fi or cellular)

Charging Your Card Reader

Your Ingenico Moby 5500 arrives with a depleted battery. Charge it fully before first use.

Steps to Charge

  1. Locate the USB-C port on the bottom of the card reader.
  2. Connect the USB-C charging cable to the port.
  3. Plug the cable into a power adapter connected to an electrical outlet, or connect it to a powered USB port. A phone charger block is sufficient.
  4. Look for a blue or green LED light on the front of the device—this indicates charging.
  5. Allow 2–3 hours for a full charge. The LED will turn solid (not blinking) when charging is complete.

Note: You can use your card reader while it's charging if needed.

Connecting to Your iPad

The Moby 5500 connects to your iPad via Bluetooth. Both devices must be in range (typically within 30 feet).

Steps to Connect/Pair the Credit Card Reader

  1. Power on the card reader by pressing and holding the power button (on the side of the device) for 2–3 seconds until the LED flashes blue.
  2. Open the Kiosk app on your iPad.
  3. Tap Settings.

Pro Tip: If the card reader doesn't appear in the device list, place it against the iPad. Try connecting again in the app. If it still doesn't connect, restart both the iPad and the card reader, then try again.
