This FAQ addresses the most common questions about the Kiosk iPad app, from initial setup to ongoing management.
Getting Started
What is Kiosk?
An iPad app that allows your ministry to accept gifts, event registrations, and form submissions from a self-service station without supervision.
What do I need to set up a Kiosk?
An iPad with the app installed, a connected Moby 5500 card reader, admin access to your Giving account, a supported stand, and reliable Wi-Fi or cellular internet connection.
Do I need a card reader for every mode?
You need it for Give Now and Give Now & Events. The Dedicated Form mode only needs a card reader if the form being used requires payment.
Can the Kiosk run unattended?
Yes — set it up once, lock it, and leave it in a lobby, welcome area, or event entrance.
How is Kiosk different from the legacy Kiosk?
It operates on a current iPad with a simple Bluetooth reader. Setup and maintenance are easier, and the donor experience feels more modern and consistent.
Do I need to be a Giving administrator?
To begin setting up and configuring the Kiosk app, you must have administrative access to the Giving Admin portal.
Kiosk Users and PIN Access
Do donors need a PIN?
No — donors will never be asked for a PIN.
What is a Kiosk user?
A Kiosk user is a person who manages settings within the app. Kiosk users require a PIN.
Do Kiosk users need a full Giving Admin account?
No — Kiosk access is managed by assigning PINs to staff and volunteers.
When is a PIN required?
When initially setting up or registering the Kiosk on the iPad, and whenever a user opens or starts the Kiosk app, or when Kiosk modes or other settings need to be updated.
What do I need to add a user?
Administrator access to your Giving Amin portal, along with the person's first name, last name, and email.
How do I add a user?
Click the gear icon to access Device Settings, then go to the User tab. Add a user by entering their details and clicking Add User. A six-digit PIN is automatically generated and emailed.
Can users choose their own PIN?
No — PINs are auto-generated and emailed; users cannot choose their own.
Should users share PINs?
No — each user has their own PIN and transactions are attributed to the signed-in user, so PINs should never be shared.
What if a user forgets their PIN?
PINs can be reset in the Giving Admin portal or by tapping Reset PIN at the bottom of the PIN entry screen in the Kiosk.
How do I reset a PIN in the admin portal?
In the Device Settings user list, click the 3-dot icon and select Reset PIN. A new PIN is emailed to the user.
Can a user reset their own PIN from the iPad?
Yes — on the bottom PIN entry screen, tap Reset PIN, and enter the same email originally registered to receive a new PIN.
How do I remove someone's access in the admin portal?
In the Device Settings user list, click the 3-dot icon, then select Remove Access. They can no longer use the app.
How does a Kiosk user unlock the Kiosk to make changes?
Tap the lock icon and enter their PIN.
iPad Registration
Why do I need to register the iPad?
Registration authorizes the iPad to run the Kiosk app and connect to your Giving account.
Where do I find the registration code?
The Kiosk app displays it on first launch to identify the device.
Where do I enter the code?
In your Giving account, under the gear icon > Device Settings > Register Device.
Does registering a device give a person access?
No. Registration links the device; each user still signs in with their own six-digit PIN. These are separate steps.
Is donor or payment data stored on the device?
No — data passes through securely and is not stored on the device.
How do I remove a device?
In the Giving Admin Portal, click the gear icon, select Device Settings, and click the delete icon next to the device you want to remove.
Credit Card Reader
Which card reader does Kiosk use?
The Ingenico Moby 5500.
How long does charging take?
About 2-3 hours; the LED turns solid (not blinking) when charging is complete.
How do I know it's charging?
A blue or green LED appears on the front of the device.
Can I use the reader while charging?
Yes.
How does the reader connect to the iPad?
Via Bluetooth.
How do I pair the reader?
Power it on until the LED flashes blue, open the app, tap Settings Card Reader Connect, tap MOB55 (or your reader's name), then tap Pair and Continue.
Kiosk App Settings
What is Guided Access?
Guided Access is the iPad feature that prevents donors from closing the Kiosk app or switching to other apps.
How do I enable Guided Access?
Enable the Guided Access feature in iPad Settings > Accessibility > Guided Access. Once the feature is enabled (meaning it can be used), turn on Guided Access by pressing the home or top/power button three times quickly. Guided Access can be turned off using the same triple-button press. You will be prompted to enter your Guided Access passcode.
What is the passcode for?
Turning off Guided Access requires a passcode. This passcode is a security feature that prevents unauthorized activity on the iPad. If you are an iPhone or iPad user, you might be familiar with entering a passcode each time you pick up your device. The Guided Access passcode is separate from your device's passcode. You will be prompted to create a passcode the first time you enable Guided Access. The Guided Access passcode can be changed in iPad Settings > Accessibility > Guided Access.
What's the difference between the passcode and the PIN?
The passcode is required to turn off Guided Access. User PIN is user-specific and allows the user to change Kiosk modes and update mode settings.
What are the recommended Guided Access session settings?
When you turn off Guided Access, you'll see a screen with a Session Settings button at the bottom. We recommend keeping "Software Keyboard" and "Touch" enabled and turning off all other options.
What is the difference between Guided Access and the Lock icon feature?
Guided Access keeps the Kiosk app in place - it cannot be closed or switched to another app. The Lock icon feature lets authorized Kiosk users, with a PIN, change settings or modes in the app. App settings can be changed while Guided Access is turned on.
How do I enable the lock?
When a mode is selected on the Mode Selection page, the lock is automatically enabled. Modes and mode settings cannot be changed until the lock icon is tapped and a valid PIN is entered.
How do I unlock the Kiosk to make mode changes?
Tap the Lock icon and enter your user PIN to change modes, adjust fee settings, or reconnect a card reader.
Upload Your Church Logo
Where is Kiosk branding managed?
On the Giving Admin Portal, click the gear icon, choose Device Settings, and click the Logo & Branding tab.
Where is the branding displayed in the app?
At the top-right corner.
What are the two branding options?
Upload an image file or use custom text.
What are the logo file requirements?
A maximum 5 MB file size and maximum dimensions of 250 × 64 pixels.
What color logo works best?
The logo appears on a dark blue background, so a white or light-colored logo works best.
How do I upload a logo?
On the Logo & Branding tab, click the Upload toggle, click Browse to select the file, preview it, then click Save.
How do I use custom text instead?
Click the Text toggle, enter your Organization Name, choose a Font, preview it, and click Save.
Why isn't my new logo or text showing on the iPad?
You may need to fully close and reopen the Kiosk app to refresh branding.
Kiosk Modes
What are the three Kiosk modes?
Give Now (donations only), Give Now & Events (donate or register for events), and Dedicated Form (a single pre-selected form).
When should I use the Give Now mode?
When you want users to make credit card donations only.
When should I use the Give Now & Events mode?
When you want users to choose between making donations and registering/paying for events.
When should I use the Dedicated Form mode?
When you want users focused on one specific form — giving, event registration, contact, or another type.
How do I switch between modes?
Tap the Lock icon to return to the Mode Selection page, then tap the mode you want.
Do I need special access to switch modes?
Yes — you need to be an authorized user with a PIN number
Why am I being asked to complete setup when I switch modes?
Switching to a mode you've never configured prompts you to finish that mode's required setup.
Will I have to reconfigure a mode every time I switch back to it?
No. Returning to a previously configured mode usually skips setup, unless a required setting is missing.
Can congregants switch modes themselves?
No. Mode switching requires unlocking the Kiosk with a valid PIN, so the public cannot change modes.
Kiosk Settings: What is a Location?
If your organization uses the Location feature in Giving Admin to link transactions to a location, choose None if you don't use locations or need it for Kiosk purposes.
Kiosk Settings: What is a Fund?
Funds are created in the Giving Admin Portal. Funds tell your administrative staff where the money should go. Your available funds may include things like Tithes, Missions, Outreach, or Benevolence.
Kiosk Settings: What is the Administrative Fee?
An optional charge that lets donors cover credit card processing costs; you can set it as a percentage, a flat fee, or none.
Is a card reader required for Give Now?
Yes — the card reader must be connected for this mode.
Kiosk Payment Reporting
Where do Kiosk transactions appear?
In your Giving Admin Portal, click Reports, click Payments (which may be labeled Gifts, Donations, or Transactions depending on your settings).
How do I view only Kiosk payments?
Click Filters, set Payment Method to TriPOS Kiosk, and click Apply Filters.
How are Kiosk payments differentiated from other types?
Click the Columns icon and add Payment Method to display. Kiosk payments will say TriPOS Kiosk.
Are Kiosk payments deposited into a single bank account?
Yes. If you use multiple bank accounts, Kiosk payments will be deposited into your primary account, regardless of fund settings.
Donors
How does a donor get a receipt?
After payment, they tap Continue, enter their first name, last name, and email (phone number optional), then tap Send Receipt.
What happens if a donor skips the receipt?
The gift is recorded as an Anonymous Member and cannot later be associated with that donor within the Giving Admin Portal.
How are Kiosk donors matched to donor accounts within the giving system?
When a donor requests, they are instructed to enter their first name, last name, email address, and, optionally, their phone number. The giving system uses this information to match with existing donors. If it doesn't find an exact match, it will create a new donor. If you find that a duplicate donor has been created, you can merge the donors.
What happens if a donor doesn't request a receipt?
Their gift is recorded as anonymous.
Can an anonymous gift be matched later?
Not within the Giving Admin Portal. If you use Amplify People, anonymous gifts can be transferred to a donor's record.
