Occasionally, a transaction may fail when a gift or payment is attempted. Credit Cards will decline immediately, and the giver will be asked for a different payment, however, ACH gifts may decline or fail a little later. Below is a list of Failed Transaction Codes for your convenience.
R01 – Insufficient FundsThe available balance was not sufficient to cover the dollar value of the debit entry.
R02 – Account ClosedThe account is closed.
R03 – No Account/Unable to Locate AccountThe account number structure is valid and passes the validation process, but does not correspond to an individual or is not an open account.
R04 – Invalid Account NumberAccount Number was not recognized by the account holder’s bank.
R05 – Improper Debit to Consumer AccountThe account holder has not authorized the debit, and the transaction was submitted as “Corporate” instead of “Personal”.
R07 – Authorization Revoked by CustomerThe account holder, who previously authorized the debit, has revoked that authorization.
R08 – Payment StoppedThe account holder with a recurring debit transaction has stopped payment to this specific EFT debit.
R09 – Uncollected FundsThe available balance was not sufficient to cover the dollar value of the debit entry.
R10 – Customer Advises Not AuthorizedThe account holder has advised that the debit was unauthorized
R13 – Invalid Routing Number/Bank Not Qualified to ParticipateThe routing number is not recognized as a participating bank.
R16 – Account FrozenFunds unavailable due to specific action by the bank or by legal action.
R20 – Non Transaction AccountThe EFT entry is destined for a non-transaction account (i.e., an account against which transactions are prohibited or limited).
R24 – Duplicate EntryThe transaction has been flagged as a duplicate.
R26 – Mandatory Field ErrorImproper information in one of the mandatory fields.
R28 – Routing number check digit errorThe routing number is invalid.
R29 – Corporate Customer Advises Not AuthorizedThe corporate account holder has advised that the debit was not authorized.
R99 – UnspecifiedThe reason for error is unspecified.
